Gwyn Savage

'Savage' – a name synonymous with field hockey – from 1961 to 1981 Gwyn's father, Austin Savage was a key goalkeeper for both Great Britain and Wales and represented the UK in the 1972 Munich Olympics. Austin gained 101 caps for Wales, and was the first Welsh player to gain 100 caps!
Gwyn played from an early age, representing Wales at Schoolboy level, and Lancashire and Yorkshire at U21 level. He captained the Leeds Metropolitan University team whilst playing for Wakefield in the National Hockey League in England.
Gwyn has been coaching for numerous years and was a coach for the Welsh U14 boys team. Currently Gwyn is the Head Coach for the USFHA's Futures program in Kansas City, and GSI's Director of Field Hockey.
