Say Hello
Welsh born Huw Williams is Sports Manager for GSI, charged with creating everlasting memories for sports enthusiasts in the U.S. and abroad. What’s more, he nurtures young talent while fostering those with the passion to play throughout adulthood.
From tournaments and leagues to camps and international tours, Huw is the creative mind and force behind the sports adventures offered by GSI. What’s more, he is developing more events for the Midwest, including field hockey camps and tours and golf tours.
It is building character, leadership and camaraderie while advancing player’s skills that Huw regards as his most important mission. And since arriving in Kansas City, Huw has coached 21 State Champion teams and one regional champion team, and coached in the prestigious US Youth Soccer National League. He is a former Director of Coaching for Kansas Youth Soccer, a member of the Regional II coaching staff, and the director of coaching for Avellino Soccer Club. He was the Men’s Coach at Avila University in Kansas City, MO, from 1989-1992. Plus, Huw was one of the original founders and is currently a Technical Director of one of Kansas City’s elite soccer clubs, KCFC. He holds the USSF 'A' License.
His dedication to soccer and mentoring young people was recognized in 2007 when he was selected the Kansas State and the Midwest premier coach of the year. He was also a 2007 finalist for the National Coach of the Year Award.
For Huw, soccer has always been a passion. He attended Cardiff College where he played soccer for the British Colleges and the All British Students teams for all four years—the last two years as captain. While at Cardiff, Huw was selected to play in the World Student Games in Tokyo.
As a player, Huw joined professional club Blackburn Rovers at age 14 where he played for five years. During this time he was "capped" by Welsh Schools and Welsh Youth teams. Huw played for the national teams for two years, the second as captain.
